Introducing 3c-black-letterhead. It is a modified version of Ulysses Ronquillo’s black-letterhead theme, which happens to be a modified version of Robin Hasting’s letterhead theme.

3c-black-letterhead is essentially a three-column black-letterhead theme. The only major addition is the left-sidebar (called sidebar2 in style.css). There are also some minor style/color changes. If you like the look and feel of the theme, download it using the link below, and enjoy!

If you like the theme and use it, let me know so I can provide a link to your site. Also, I’d appreciate if you could support this site by visiting my sponsors or donating via the Paypal button on the left and by linking from your web sites. Thanks for your support!

Here’s a screenshot (click to enlarge):

hey, i really love your theme. i’m using it one a few of my sites, but i notice one problem. the sidebar comes first in the html, and the main content column 2nd. what would it take to put the main content first, and have the sidebars 2nd?

having the content first would make the theme very very search engine friendly, instead of the blurb on google being the text in the sidebar.

    any possibility of this happening?

  2. 2 hakan

    fuzz,

I’ll look into it and see what I can do. I’m not sure how that effects search engine results though. Do search engines stop processing content after reading certain number of bytes? I thought they’d read the whole page anyway.

Thanks, and by the way, on which site are you using the theme?

  3. 3 fuzz

the search engines will read the whole thing, but will only display the first little bit in the blurb in the search results, meaning you will see the page title and then seemingly random things like maybe some google ads, a calendar (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8..) whatever else is in your left sidebar

i am reticent in linking my site as it is still a work in progess and of a personal/family nature

for what it’s worth, here’s an article on the benefits of having the center column in the source first: http://builder.com.com/5100-6371_14-5254255.html

Hey, your theme looks fantastic and I’ve applied it with a few little colour modifications; however, despite searching left right and center, I can’t seem to find details on adding content to the left hand sidebar. Could you point me in the right direction?

    Thank you,

    Keven

  6. 6 hakan

    Keven,

You can add content to the left hand sidebar by editing the file ‘leftsidebar.php’. If you open up that file, you’ll see a comment there saying ‘Your left sidebar code’.

    Thanks

I’m trying to use your theme, but my one question is: how do I use a header image? I tried by reading wordpresses documentation, but… still no go. I just wondered how you did it.

    Thanks.

  8. 8 ABT

Hi, I would like to use your template but I’m having a problem with it… whenever I create a new Page the text is centered… I really prefer my text to be left justified… I’m not skilled enough in CSS to figure out how and where to edit to fix it… any help you could give me would be most appreciated.. thanks in advance… :)

    -ABT

  9. 9 ABT

    Okay, I grew a brain while sleeping… :)

I had downloaded your theme from http://themes.wordpress.net/… I re-downloaded the file from your site and re-uploaded it to my server… as far as I can tell at this point the text looks good now (is left justified)…

    -ABT

  10. 10 ABT

Another question… I’m keeping a list of websites and I’d like for my visitors to be able to leave comments on the page… how can I enable comments with this theme…? I have made sure the box is checked to “allow comments” in the Write Page editor of the admin section but I can’t seem to enable comments on any page I create…

    -ABT

  11. 11 hakan

    Hi ABT,

The comments feature has nothing to do with the theme really. It is a core feature of Wordpress. The theme doesn’t affect any of the core Wordpress features. I just went to your website and I can actually see the comment forms and everything, are you sure that it isn’t working?

  12. 12 ABT

The comments are working fine on the “Write Post” entries… it is the “Write Page” where I don’t see them… When I make a Page and list it on the right sidebar under “Pages”… that is where I don’t see any comment boxes… I’ll check again, maybe I’m just overlooking something…

    Thanks for taking a look!
    -ABT

  13. 13 ABT

Let’s just use one page as an example… I have a page called “READ THIS FIRST” (which really should be read first, hehe)… In the editor I have the boxes checked to “allow pings” and “allow comments”… but I don’t see the comment box on the page…

When I changed to one of the default templates I did see the comment boxes… when I changed back to yours I didn’t… I do have the original 2 column of this template, I’ll see what happens with that one…

  14. 14 ABT

Here is a better example of the issue (and a more workplace friendly site)… you can delete my other comment if you feel it is appropirate…

I made a chit chat page to allow visitors to leave comments, but with the Black Letterhead themes this isn’t possible as there are no comment boxes…

    -ABT

    http://varonika.nexae.com/blog/chit-chat/

  15. 15 hakan

ABT, I found a solution to your problem. Go to your admin panel and select ‘edit themes’. There, open up the page template, ‘page.php’. Right after the line that says edit_post_link(’Edit this entry’…), insert the following:

    < ?php comments_template(); ?>

You should then have comments capability for the pages that you have comments enabled. Let me know if this works for you.

    Thanks,
    Hakan

  16. 16 ABT

We’re on the right track… I got some comments but the size of the boxes are skewed…

    http://varonika.nexae.com/blog/chit-chat/

  17. 17 ABT

    By jove, I think I got it…

I was placing it after the </div>… I put it just befor the and it seems to be working just fine now… thank you for taking the time to help me with it, I really appreciate it…

  18. 18 Alan Morgan

Love the theme :) Any chance you might have the time to update it with support for the Automattic widgets?

    http://automattic.com/code/widgets/themes/

    Thanks.

  19. 19 hakan

    Hi Alan,

I updated the other three column theme that I am maintaining (3K2) with widgets support. I will update 3c-black-letterhead soon as well. I’ll let you know when its done.

I’m not sure how to support widgets for both sidebars though. I think currently it only works with the right sidebar.

    Hakan

  20. 20 hakan

    Alan,

I’ve updated 3c-black-letterhead to have widgets support as well. Enjoy!

  21. 21 ABT

Nice job, thank you for making it widget friendly… :)

I’m wondering though, why you removed the edit capability from the front page…? I do lots of editing and I really miss it… the old one had “Edit|Leave a comment” but the new one only has a link to leave a comment… :(

What can I do to put it back in there…?

  22. 22 hakan

    ABT,

Edit post.php, go towards the end of the file, and change the following line:

    <!– < ?php edit_post_link(’Edit’,'’,'|’); ?> –>

    to

    < ?php edit_post_link(’Edit’,'’,'|’); ?>

That will bring back the Edit link

  23. 23 The Gardening Gift

I’d like to use an image in the header of the 3c black theme, but I’m having some difficulty. I’ve got the image appearing, but it’s kind of sitting on top of my entries. How do I adjust so that the header is larger? (I hope I’m making sense, to see what I’m talking about, I’ve got a test site at http://bbq.myblogbiz.com/) I would like my graphic where it is, with the site info (title and byline) to the right of it, and then of course, my sidebars and main content column below it, rather than under it. My current code for the header is:

    “>

    Thanks for any assistance.

  24. 24 hakan

    Hi,

You can open up style.css, go to the section labelled #header, and change the height: 200 line to height: [your image height]. That should take care of it.

  25. 25 TheGardeningGift

Thanks Hakan! I can’t believe I didn’t figure that out, LOL. Your theme is fantastic, it took me a long time to find the perfect theme, but you’ve done it. THANK YOU!

  26. 26 Annette

Hi and THANKS for providing a widgetized 3c-Black-Letterhead theme. I just want to let you know that I have translated it into german and offer it besides a few other themes on my website.

  27. 27 bungaguy

    Hello Hakan,

I decided to go ahead and use this theme for the blog I hope to make. Nothing is ready yet and I am just in the learning stages right now. Thanks for being so close to those of us who are interested in your themes. It is sincerely appreciated.

I have a few questions I would like to ask. Some of the questions probably seem basic or overly simple, but I am still trying to learn what all of this stuff means.

    1) Is this theme considered to be compatible with Wordpress 2.0 and over?

    2) Does it support the use of plug-in’s such as wp-cache 2.0? From what I understand there is a catching function in the new wordpress software, but it is not the same as the plug-in. From the reports I have read the plug-in wp-cache 2.0 helps much more to reduce CPU usage. Why? I don’t know. I am just curious if this theme allows and is compatible with such plug-ins.

    3) Does this theme have any advanced styles or coding methods used? I noticed your other theme I decided against (even though it is a GREAT theme of course) was a little too complex for me, especially since it included AJAX in it. Would you say this theme is easy to modify or alter for someone’s specific needs?

    4) How does this theme work with different screen resolutions? I want my blog to be compatible with 800×600 screen resolutions. If I am correct, after looking at the code, this theme is 900 pixels wide. Does the center column grow more narrow if you only have a 800 resolution screen with this theme? Basically, if you would explain which kind of setup it uses for this matter I would appreciate it. Also, if there is anyway to modify it.

Once again, I just want to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your work making these great themes. It is very, very much appreciated.

    Thanks again!

PS: I have started work adjusting the colors of links, backgrounds, text, and so fourth. Still a lot of work to do however.

  28. 28 hakan

    bungaguy, here are my answers:

    1) Yes, I’ve tested it with 2.0.1 and 2.0.2

    2) It should be, but I can’t say for 100% since I haven’t tried to install that plugin. I don’t have that many visitors to justify :) I looked at the webpage for that plugin and it doesn’t state any requirements for the theme.

    3) Nothing I would call ‘advanced’. If you know some CSS, you should be all set. It is actually very easy to modify and tailor to your own needs if you know CSS, and if you don’t know CSS, if you spend a few hours reading a basic CSS tutorial, you’ll have enough knowledge to modify the theme.

    4) It does, but again, you have to modify the CSS. The center column won’t resize automagically if you decrease your window size or if you decrease your resolution. If I remember correctly, in the CSS, the column is named ‘narrowcolumn’ and you need to modify the width of that element to resize the middle column. Also, when you do that, the right and left sidebar widths will need some adjustment via the CSS as well.

  29. 29 bungaguy

    Thanks Hakan for the information.

However, I am still having some problems. Your template is great, but my lack of skill is showing.

    1) How do you center the image for the header? I got the image in there but cannot get it to center not matter what. Could you please help me with this.

    2) Could you post some sample settings for those that would like the center column to shrink for those who view the template in 800×600 resolution? I have played around with the settings you spoke of but cannot get things to work right or look balanced so to speak.

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

  30. 30 hakan

    Hi bungaguy,

To center the header image, open up style css, find #header section, change background settings to:

    background: white url(”background-image.jpg”) center center no-repeat;

That should center the image both vertically and horizontally.

As for the resolution, first change the page width back to something that would fit in 800×600, say 760 pixels. Then decide on your master and sidebar widths with margins. So your widths should look like:

left margin leftbar | leftbar | right margin leftbar | left margin primary | primary | right margin primary | left margin sidebar | sidebar | right margin sidebar

So for example, set your widths to:

    5 | 135 | 5 | 5 | 460 | 5 | 5 | 135 | 5

    Hakan

  31. 31 bungaguy

Thank you so much for all of the information Hakan. I cannot describe how helpful you are to us.

One more question if you don’t mind. Where exactly can I change the white text into a different color? I have been looking and looking and cannot find exactly where to do that? Could it be that the color is not set on white, but there is no color set so the default is white? If so, where do I need to make a change?

    Thank you again!

  32. 32 bungaguy

    Hakan,

I bet you think I am the guy with more questions than anyone else on the planet. Sorry. :-(

Basically, today I clicked “about” and it had a blurb of text about making pages. Well, that “page” did not have a left hand column. Are pages and pages for categories going to have left hand columns? If not, how can I create one for those pages?

By the way, I am accomplishing a lot with your help. But I owe it all to you for being so helpful. Progress is coming slowly, but I am getting word done.

Thanks again for all your help and for being such a thoughtful person.

  33. 33 bungaguy

By the way I figured out how to change the text color myself! :-)

  34. 34 bungaguy

    Mr. Hakan,

I have discovered the proper term that I should have used in a question I have posted. The term is “fluid”. Do you know how I can make the center column “fluid” in this theme so that it can shrink down when someone views it with a lower resolution screen?

Thanks very, very, much! I’m a newbie, but I’m learning!

  35. 35 bungaguy

    Dear The Gardening Gift,

I went to your website that you posted in one of your comments. http://bbq.myblogbiz.com/?page_id=2

It utilizes this template and I was wondering how you adjusted it so everything in the right column was aligned to the left instead of floating?

Thanks for any help you can provide. It is appreciated.

  36. 36 hakan

bungaguy: Pages and categories didn’t have left hand columns by design. If you want, take a look at how the left hand column is included in the design in index.php (it is a single line of code that says something like include TEMPLATEPATH leftsidebar.php), then insert the same code in page.php, or any other page file that you want.

As for the center column, I don’t know how you can make it fluid on top of my head.

  37. 37 hakan

    Hi everyone,

I released another theme, 3some. Here’s the link to the post: http://aydin.net/blog/2006/05/01/wordpress-theme-3some/

  38. 38 Alquiler casa rural

    Thanks for this theme!!!!

  39. 39 Terry

This is quite moronic of me but I am using 3K2 on my site at www.successmark.net. I successfully changed the header background color and now, for the life of me, I can’t remember how I did it. Can you tell me how I did it?

    Pretty bad, huh.

    Love the theme!

  40. 40 hakan

    :)

Terry, open your style.css, go to the section that says:

    #header {
    padding: 0;
    margin: 0;
    position: relative;
    height: 170px;
    background: #000000;
    }

and change the background to your desired background color.

    Enjoy,

  41. 41 Bungaguy

    Hello Hakan,

How are you doing? I hope things are going well for you. I am making more progress on designing my blog after a few major setbacks. I do have a couple questions however?

Where in the code or style sheet would I look to change the color and text color of the box or boxes that contain the text? For example, someone comments on a post. I have adjusted the settings of the theme so it is not black anymore, but the box in which the visitor’s comments is located in is still black and I cannot see anything at all unless I use my mouse and select the text manually. Could you point me in the right place to fix this?

My second question is that I am testing amazon’s link system in the blog to see if it will work, and so far it will work in the sidebars, but not in the post themselves. If I paste the code from amazon into a comment box using wordpress (making sure that the image is NOT too wide for the center column) the whole site goes haywire. The sidebars go everywhere and the format is ruined. If I then delete the amazon code I uploaded in my post everything goes back to normal. Do you know what I can do to fix this and be able to use amazon code in posts? Other people have told me they are able to do the same thing I am trying to do but with no problems at all. Do I need to add something to amazon’s code? Do you or anyone else know what is happening?

Again, thanks very much for any advice or suggestions you can provide.

  42. 42 hakan

    bungaguy:

    That would be the style called commentlist. If you want to change the color of the user comments, open up style.css, go to the section that says .commentlist p {}, and put a line in there that says, color: red;

It would help if you can point me to your blog and/or the problem post, but I’m guessing that the link from amazon is wider than the main center column width. What type of amazon link are you including in your block? Is it an iframe link? Is it an image link? or a text link?

    Hakan

Love the 3c theme and also looking at possibly using the 3some theme for some other projects.

Every widget I have tried so far has implemented seemlessly into the sidebars, new to all this, so will pleased.

Now, a few questions I hope that you could help me with.

    1. I managed to place an image in the header (eventually, remember this my first time) But, although placed it between the (div’s) as you recommend above, it pushes title and tagline down, without a doubt, it’s how i placed the img src code into header php, tried several ways, but just can’t seem to get it right, did a search (google - how to place image into 3c-black-letterhead etc) and mish mash of results enabled me to get so far - could you help by posting the exact way to change header.php - my image height is 230px and changed that in style css.

    2. The right hand sidebar (sidebar 1) has a ‘greying’ effect that i would like to get rid of - sidebar 2 (left side) does not have this - is it possible to change this so that it is black, although it still looks alright, I would personally like it to fit in with the overall look.

    3. Have tried the site in firefox and IE, and although slightly different, they look ok, need to try opera. have viewed it in lynx and would like to add to comments above about how search engines would spider the sidebar, as opposed to the main content first. A solution i’m looking at is loading the top half with text widgets, tried several text blocks and although not perfect, lynx does show that you can load it with your keywords, of course, if you plan to put adsense there then it probably won’t be as good.

Thanks for a great theme and making it widget enabled, next thing is Canvas enabled I suppose, as a newbie to all this, I have a bit of information overload, but plugging through it. Will place a link to you in credits when got everything moving along soothly

    Cheers

    Stevie G

PS. where do I get that input image to submit comment thingy from

  44. 44 Bungaguy

    Hello Hakan,

I have given up and using amazon inside of posts. Basically, no one I have talked to has been able to find a way to do it so I am just going with chitika which seems pretty easy to use.

Thanks for the information on how to change the text color. It worked and changed the text color. Could you tell me which area changes the background box? Right now I have red text on a black background box. How do I change that box color to white like the rest of the page?

Sir, I can’t express how helpful you have been. You are the BEST!

  45. 45 Andrew

    Thanks for theme! :)

  46. 46 hakan

    Stevie G:

    1) You said you placed the image in between divs. The better way to do it (as I also mentioned above in another comment) would be to do it in style.css in the ‘header’ section by using a line that looks like this:

    background: white url(”background-image.jpg”) center center no-repeat;

Try it and see how that works.

    2) You can change that in style.css, in the section labelled #sidebar. The background-color is set to 111111 there, change that to 000000 or black to make it black.

    3) Search engine optimization is an issue that I wanted to spend time on as well. To tell the truth I don’t know how search-engine-friendly these themes are. It seems to work well for me, but that doesn’t mean it is working well :)

    4) I’m using the captcha plugin from here: http://www.boriel.com/?page_id=17

    Hakan

  47. 47 hakan

    bunbaguy:

    That would be the style called commentlist. Open up style.css, go to the section that says .commentlist p {}, and put a line in there that says, background-color: white;

    Hakan

  48. 48 Stevie G

    Hakan

    Thanks for the advice.

have decided to leave the header image as is, mainly because if viewed with Lynx, it all looks tickety boo - just gonna change the image title to something more appropriate to target.

Changed the right hand sidebar colour - no problemo - so thanks once again for that and implemented your suggestion for adding the left hand sidebar to pages.

SEO wise - noticed this morning that search on one of my keyphrase’s in google - that site semi appears on second page - but through technorati search tags - albeit broad tag (policy) but who cares, something is working and site only been up a week, time to knuckle down methinks

    Take care

    SG

  49. 49 hakan

    Stevie,

I can’t believe you’re actuallly thinking of Lynx users :)

  50. 50 Stevie G

    Hakan

Hey, i’m a caring type of person ha ha, but, thats not the reason - several seo forums have stated that lynx ‘may’ give an indication of what a search engine spider will see when it comes a’visiting, at the moment i’m quite happy with what lynx shows, plus, it’s easy for me to switch between views as I use firefox with the lynx tab and ie tab - it’s just a case of click the tab and voila, that’s what your site looks like in other browsers - need opera tab but I believe that their license forbids calling up the browser in third party apps so its calls outside.

Also, there is are great free tools at either seobench or webconfs that also show you how your site will probably look to a SE spider amongst some other things

If anyone else has firefox and wants to get it, recommend those tabs, also seo diff toolbar (for SEO of course) and web developer toolbar, which has so many functions (I understand about 2 - joking) related to huh web development, use it all the time to check out stuff, it also comes with a little tab so that you can hide/callup the toolbar whenever you want.

As for lynx users, at least I know that the site is readable if they come along, that cant be too bad, all 2 of them :-)

    kindest regards

    stevie

    Hello ,

Just want to say this is by far the best theme that I have found. There are just a few things that I’d like to customize. First off I’ve added sidebar widgets. And now my right side bar is center justifed instead of left. How can i fix this? I’ve tried to fix it but ended up causing more harm than good. I have a little prgramming knowledge but not much. I was able to figure out how to get a flash header. YAY. Thanks in advance for any help.

    AO

  52. 52 AppleOrange

Oh one more thing also it appers that I’ve lost some spacing between the center and the right side. Any idea what caused this ? or a fix for it?

  53. 53 AppleOrange

Ok I grew a brain also and figured out how to left align. By editing the styles.css
Thanks. But I do have a request, is it possible to include the name of the poster that posted. If anyone can help me out it will much apprecited.

    Thanks ,
    AO

  54. 54 Bungaguy

    Hello Hakan,

Thanks for all the continuing support you give those that are building blogs with your themes. It is very much appreciated.

By the way, do you know how someone would go about putting the Categories and Meta links of the right side bar on the individual permalink pages for each post? You see, if you go to an individual permalinked page the right column is missing the Categories and Meta sections. How would someone put this back in?

Also, do you happen to know of a good way to add a recent posts or most popular posts list? Is the best way to try and use the widget plug-in?

  55. 55 Nikolas

    Big thanks for this Theme!

  56. 56 Bungaguy

    Hello Hakan,

I also have a very important question. It seems that permalinked individual pages using this theme have links to the previous post and the next post at the very top of the center column. This is a problem because they show up in search engines instead of the appropriate title text.

How do I eliminate them from my permalinked pages?

For SEO i think this is very, very important.

Thanks again for all your help.

  57. 57 tex

Great theme! I want to add an image like the one you ave in your header. I am a rank amateur on CSS, but I figure it has somethig to do with the #header areas on the CSS sheet. I changed the header color bot want to add the iamge. Any pointers? Thanks!

  58. 58 Parmesan

    Hi,
I’m quiete new with wordpress and I wanted to thank you for this great theme.
With my little knowledge I was able to make some minor changes without any problems.
    Thanks again.

  59. 59 King Mob

How hard would it be to create a widget that lets add a header image?

  60. 60 Nathan

Hi there I love your theme but am having problems getting pages listed in google with it. Every couple of weeks google picks up a huge batch of my pages but then drops them a week or two later. Ive noticed that many of my pages on the SERPS when I perform a site:domain.com search show the same description. It simply strips the info from the top of the left sidebar rather than the body.

I understand it is possible to change the order of the code in the page and use absolute positioning (I think) in CSS to place the columns in their correct positions whilst allowing the SE’s to see the main content first in the html. Do you know how I would go about doing this? It would make this theme much more SE friendly. Any thoughts you have on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  61. 61 Nathan

in follow up out of 240 pages listed 220 of them have the same blurb/description on the SERPS from the top of my left side bar wheras each page has in fact got completely unique content. Im positive that this is having an impact on search traffic.

Hi, I love your theme and use it for my blog. However, in my attempts to use the sidebar widgets it doesn’t pass the XHTML validation. Apparently there are some missing lines from the HTML.

most of the problem is outlined here

    Hey!
I’ve used your theme for a while now, I’m still using it and I have to say: just perfect!
You’ve done a great work, I just wanted to thank you for this nice theme! :)

  64. 64 wakasm

I am playing around with your theme and making a border around it just to learn some stuff.

However - I wanted narrowcolumn to be smaller (resized it to around 350px but now there is a gap between the sidebar and middle column. I can’t seem to figure out how to fix this.

(I basically want all 3 columns to fit within a 800 pix wide border)

    Any idea?

Hey, I can’t seem to get the lists on the left sidebar to match the right. Any idea how I would go about doing this?

    Thanks,

Cool theme! Thank u! I am going to try it for my blog (:

Hi, I’m using your 3c Black Letterhead as the main theme on my site (with a bit of modification) and I really like the theme.

I am having some of the same problems as the people above however. The thing I am most interested in getting fixed is the search engine problem. I am not sure what the cause is (above Nathan says its the order or layout of the code) but all the search results just turn up a category list as the description for the page, which it seems has actually caused google to drop all but one page because they all just display the same content.

    See an example here:
    http://www.google.com/search?q=site:www.ttancm.com&hl=en

If you have any idea how this might be fixed it would be greatly appreciated.

Other than that the only other problem I’m really having is with validation. It seems that the problem stems from the code around wdigets?

    wakasm:

You need to open the file style.css, find the section labelled #sidebar, and change the value of margin-left to a smaller value, start with 580 and see how it goes.

  70. 70 hakan

All. The question of how to add a header image to 3c-black-letterhead seems to be getting asked a lot. Although it has been answered before above, here it is again:

You can put a header image by opening up your style.css file, going to the section that starts with #header, and insert a line that looks like:

    background: white url(”background-image.jpg”) center center no-repeat;

Check out the following pages for more info on how to customize headers:

    http://dopamineaddict.com/2006/01/13/modifying-k2-series-headers.html
    http://www.paulstamatiou.com/2005/12/28/customizing-k2-part-1/

    Hope this helps.

  72. 72 tex

Hi all. I’ve been using our awsome theme for a while now with no problems. I recently added Google AdSense in the left colimn and it blew out some of the main pane as well as all of the right column.

    Any feedback is appreciated.

  73. 73 tex

Actually, the right column seems t be loading after an extended period of time (5-8 minutes)after the reast of the site has loaded. Ani ideas what’s causing this?

    Thanks.

  74. 74 Hugh Bris

Great theme. I’ve been looking high and low for a 3 column theme that I liked.

    Thanks,

    Hugh Bris

  75. 75 Michael

Great theme Hakan, but I am having a couple of problems.

First, whenever I access one of my “pages”, the paragraphs of text turn into giant links that redirect to my homepage. Do you know what’s causing this?

Also, I can’t seem to figure out the code for the left sidebar. Can you help me out?

  76. 76 az

    hiya hakan,

i really like this theme. it’s the only 3 column theme, sidebar-content-sidebar arranged, that can be easily adapted. good work!

as you can see, i’ve adapted the theme quite a lot, but am having issues with widgets. if i activate widgets, the left sidebar shows content, but it loses my styling and reverts back to the default wordpress styles.

i’m thinking i might just forget widgets and do the left sidebar manually. if you have any suggestions, i’d be glad to hear them!

    cheers and thanks.

  77. 77 Rev

Nice theme. I was looking for another one with a black background and this one’s pretty slick. Thanks again.

    Hi,
I am using your theme and really like it. I did a lot of tweaking to it, mostly by trial and error. I have 2 questions.
    1. When I write a page, (not a post on the main part) The text comes up centered in IE and aligned left in firefox. I want it aligned left in IE as well.
    2. on the main page I have little arrows as bullet points on the sidebar in firefox but not in IE, I want the bullet points in IE as well.

Its possible I messed something up in the tweaking so any help you can give will be great.
    Thanks.

  81. 81 Rick

Here is another question. How do I get the links to alphabetize. They come up in a different random order every time.

  82. 82 dave

I was using this theme and loved it. I had it up and running all summer and it also worked great with WP 2.0.1. Then all of a sudden I had a server crash, but fortunately my site was backed up. However, when I reinstall the database and upload all the files nothing appears. It is very strange. Any ideas why this is happening?

I even did a fresh db install using the wp-install file and then only uploaded the theme leaving out all plugins. When I enable the theme the site goes blank.

  83. 83 GameBoy

    Hi
Thanks for the innovative design. I am planning to use it for my site.
    thanks

  84. 84 Kelly

Hakan, I LOVE this theme! I was using the original Letterhead but wanted to make it 3c. I have been able to find most of the changes I want, however, I want to have a “background” color and a “foreground” color. I can change the background color okay, but when I try to change the “top” color it uses the background color. I’m still really, really new to CSS so any help you could provide would be great. My site is http://www.studentoffinance.com/

  85. 85 MIKE

Hey, i’m currently using a modified version of your theme and i have one question, can you give me some advice about how to make the sidebar(the right one) to appear on all pages and not only on index?

    Thank you for your work,
    Mike

  86. 86 Holly

Mmm… so lovely theme) I liked it

  87. 87 MIKE

Nevermind, i made it myself somehow.

Thanks for sharing the theme but can u suggest some theme related for a personal stuff blog!

  94. 94 Adsense Templates

Hi the theme is nice, but I do not think it is comfortable on eyes? Somehow is it not better just to have black writing and white backgrounds? Just my opinion.

    Colin

  95. 95 Rich

looks great I am going to implement it on one of my pages.

  96. 96 Arjan

This theme was a great foundation for the theme i had in mind. I specifficaly want a 3 column blog, as there is much you can put in the sidebars… I adapted the colors and put a picture n it; it looks great!

Also i localised it to dutch, which was a good 2 hours modificationtime. The only thing i could not accomplish was the date/time fields anyone knows how to localise that?

Thank you for providing this great theme!

  102. 102 Ken

Strange anomaly. I am using 2 col blackline now. When I switch to your 3 column one it just displays 2 columns, but wider. No 3rd column. Other 3 column themes display 3 just fine. I would like to use this theme…

  103. 103 fuzz

Do you have plans to update this to the latest update of the original black letterhead (1.3)?

Good day Hakan, love this theme at 1st sight and have been using it for a week now. Just 1 thing, the title bar on IE/Mozilla always shows the domain address, which is something like www.kukujian.com. Where shall we tweak to make it show the title of the site?

Well nothing major, just something tat we see all the time and would be good to get it sorted.

    Thanks dude, really.. :)

  105. 105 Nishita

    Cool theme! Thank u!

  106. 106 hakan

Jian: Open up header.php, and look for the code snippet that says:

    get_settings(home), bloginfo(name), etc.

and change it to your liking.

  107. 107 Nandan Jha

    Looks clean. Good work.

    thanks, and great template.

  116. 116 KeMari

Ok first, I love love love this theme.

Second, I did the dreaded upgrade to 2.0.whatever we’re on now.

Here’s my issue…why aren’t the sidebars widgetized? I mean, I don’t necessarily need it since I figured out how to overcome that wp_cat issue, but just curious in case the beta upgrade ends up messing up anymore of the themes.

And, if I didn’t just lose my job, I would totally paypal you some support :) Thanks for the kick ass theme.

  117. 117 Turismo Malaga

    Thanks for this wonderfull theme!

    thanks

  120. 120 Toon

And then people do stuff like this with it, it’s bust in Firefox, the red is ugly and the content is all stolen directly from sites like my own.

I’d get them to remove your link at the bottom, you don’t want anything to do with sites like this, it’s evil to web design!

I can’t get the header to work. Do I insert it in style.css where the height etc. are given for the header, and insert a link (absolute link to my graphic) by the background-color tab? Thanks.
