Istanbul hosted a Formula 1 Grand Prix leg a couple weeks ago, on August 27. This was only the second time Turkey has hosted this massive organization. The 58 lap race was very challenging, especially with the scorching temperature of ~40C (~100F).

Felipe Massa captured his first pole and first career win in Istanbul. He took a long lead at the start of the race and remained uncatchable throughout. After the race, Schumachersaid that it’s good to have a teammate who can put in a performance when the other is having an off weekend.

Renault’s Fernando Alonso finished 2nd with Michael Schumacher half a car length behind him. The two champions were battling hard the entire race. Michael had qualified in 2nd with Alonso in 3rd and his Renault teammate Giancarlo Fisichella in 4th. In the first corner, Michael almost became the filling in a Renault sandwich but managed to make it through maintaining 2nd position.
